I am Josephine. I started Calgary Catalyst to show how growth, opportunity, and goodness can belong to everyone.
It’s a step toward a world where we all thrive and help others thrive too.
Where Did I Start?
I first read the line, “the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer,” in my junior high economics class. It made me angry, sad, and feel heavy.
The same year, my history teacher gave us a class test and split us into “bright” and “dull” students. Those labeled “dull” had to sit separately and were treated differently. Well, I was one of them—not because I couldn’t study, but because nothing made sense to me.
It really bothered me. So, on my way home, I walked up to her and said, “This isn’t fair. Maybe if we received more support to learn and understand better, we could do well.” That was my first victory in changing a system.
My Work in the International Development Sector
Education:
Bachelors in Business Management
Masters in Developmental Studies
Works:
A decade of work on global development challenges focusing on economic access, partnerships, and community-driven models of growth in the areas of education, rural development, disaster management, women and child development and entrepreneurship.
Alongside that, my background in business and marketing deepened my interest in how markets move, how investments influence change, and how the right communication can connect global ideas to real-world impact.
